Shaping the blue economy in the South Adriatic: B-VISA 2030 final conference to be held in Bari (Italy)
Overview

On Tuesday, June 24, from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, the historic Sala Museo at Acquedotto Pugliese (Via Salvatore Cognetti 36, Bari) will host the final conference of the B-VISA 2030 project, titled “One Sea, One Vision: Shaping Blue Growth in the South Adriatic.”

Promoted by the Research and International Relations Department of the Puglia Region - lead partner of the project - and supported by ARTI, the event represents a significant opportunity to advance shared strategies for a sustainable blue economy in the South Adriatic. Institutions, experts, and stakeholders from across the cooperation area will gather to present results, share insights, and reinforce future collaboration.

Funded by the Interreg IPA South Adriatic Programme, B-VISA 2030 brought together the Puglia Region, Albania’s National Coastal Agency, and Montenegro’s Ministry of Economic Development. The project aimed to strengthen cross-border dialogue and develop a common vision for sustainable blue growth, in alignment with the European Green Deal.

A key focus of the initiative was the promotion of Puglia’s Blue Vision 2030, a regional strategy that emphasizes sustainable development in key sectors such as fisheries, coastal tourism, mariculture, and renewable energy. Through B-VISA 2030, strategic guidelines from this vision were shared with Albanian and Montenegrin partners to support the adoption of sustainable practices.

Building on Puglia’s experience, each partner country developed its own Blue Vision Action Plan, involving local stakeholders to ensure relevance and impact. Based on these national strategies, the project produced a Joint Action Plan - the flagship result of B-VISA 2030 - which will be officially presented during the conference.

One of the main highlights of the event will be the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the project partners. This agreement formalizes their commitment to continued cooperation and paves the way for future joint initiatives and policy alignment in the South Adriatic region.

The conference program includes four thematic sessions, covering the presentation of Puglia’s Blue Vision 2030 strategy, a roundtable on cross-border public-private dialogue, and two “Blue Talks” focused on sharing best practices, real-world experiences, and scalable cooperation models across the Mediterranean.

Participation is free and open to all, with registration required by June 20, 2025, via the [registration form].
