
The Municipality of Tirana is set to host a pivotal seminar as part of the SUrF project under the Capitalization Small-Scale initiative. Scheduled for 30 October 2024 at the Center for Openness and Dialogue (COD) in Tirana, Albania, this event is designed to advance sustainable, inclusive, and circular urban food policies across the region, drawing on the successes of the SUrF project and encouraging inter-municipal collaboration.
Seminar Agenda
The event will be structured into two key sessions:
- Presentations from Partner Municipalities
Representatives from various partner cities will share their experiences and progress in implementing food policies:- Caprarica - The Journey Toward Food Policy Integration: Mayor Paolo Greco will outline the city’s approach to embedding sustainable food policies within its community.
- Campobasso - The Importance of Food-Related Initiatives: Sabrina Tirabassi will discuss how food initiatives are shaping local urban policies.
- Ulcinj - Progress on Sustainable and Healthy Food Policies: Zeqarije Sulejmani will highlight ongoing efforts to promote healthy and sustainable food systems in Ulcinj.
- Thematic Workshops
Following the presentations, three interactive workshops will provide insights into specific aspects of urban food sustainability:- AGROPARK as a Farmer Market Success Story
Presented by Pietro Hausmann, this workshop will explore the concept behind organic farmer markets and their role in promoting sustainable local produce. - Avanzi Popolo, Bari - Tackling Food Waste
Antonio Spera and Marco Ranieri will discuss the Avanzi Popolo initiative, which focuses on redistributing surplus food to communities in need. - Healthy Nutrition for All Ages
Led by Fiona Konomi, this session will delve into the Food Trails project’s strategies for promoting balanced nutrition across all age groups.

Conclusion and Future Actions
The seminar will conclude with a summary of key takeaways, emphasizing collaborative steps to further develop the SUrF Joint Action Plan. Participants will discuss future initiatives, upcoming workshops, and joint actions to continue fostering resilient and sustainable urban food policies.
