Overview

The CO-CLEAN project “Co-designed and implementation of local sustainable energy action” starts, funded by the Interreg IPA CBC Italy-Albania-Montenegro Programme with a total budget of about 693.000,00 EUR.

The Kick-Off Meeting of the CO-CLEAN project will be held on Tuesday 20th April 2021, online, starting from 10:30 am.

The Municipality of Brindisi (Puglia) is the lead partner of CO-CLEAN, which involves, as project partners, the Municipality of Racale (Puglia), the COSIB - Consortium for the Industrial Development of the Biferno Valley (Molise), the Municipality of Vlore (Albania) and the Municipality of Berane (Montenegro).

CO-CLEAN project is funded under Priority Axis 3, Specific Objective 3.2 (“Promoting innovative practices and tools to reduce carbon emission and to improve energy efficiency in public sector”) of the INTERREG IPA CBC Italy-Albania-Montenegro 2014/2020 Programme. It aims to improve energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies in the involved territories through the implementation of innovative and consolidated actions, training and awareness-raising activities.

Specifically, the project foresees, for the Municipality of Brindisi, the efficiency of the Sant'Elia-Commenda Comprehensive Institute in order to provide renewable energy to the community and to the school itself through the installation of a photovoltaic system; for the Municipality of Racale, an energy efficiency intervention on the municipal swimming pool through the installation of a photovoltaic system that will allow the self-production of electricity from renewable sources and the storage of surplus; for the Consortium for the Industrial Development of the Biferno Valley, the updating of the current air conditioning system dating back to 1998 and with high consumption energy in its administrative headquarters; for the Municipality of Vlore, the installation of solar panels on a municipal nursery and, finally, for the Municipality of Berane, the installation of a heating system in the Municipal Cultural Center.

In addition to the mentioned actions, the project aims to create an energy community made up of citizens and SMEs, the implementation of energy efficiency measures on public buildings, the realization of an “Energy Festival” in order to raise awareness among citizens and stakeholders on the rational and responsible use of energy sources, and the creation of a cross-border training course for public employees with the objective of increasing energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies in Albania, Montenegro, Molise and Puglia.
