Interreg LEC+ organizes in Terlizzi a Seminar to create the Local Energy Community
Overview

On July 11, 2025, the Municipality of Terlizzi (Puglia) will host the seminar “LEC+ Model for Creating Local Energy Communities” at the City Hall, as part of the LEC+ project.

The project brings together municipalities from Italy, Albania, and Montenegro to promote the creation and development of local energy communities (LECs). A key objective of the seminar is to engage potential local members and organizations interested in supporting energy transition initiatives, taking inspiration from the Municipality of Mirabello Sannitico (Molise) and the successes achieved during the previous LEC project.

Local energy communities play a vital role in promoting the use of renewable energy sources, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing local energy independence.

The seminar will open with remarks by Michelangelo De Chirico, Mayor of Terlizzi, who will share insights into the city’s ongoing efforts to implement the LEC+ model and make Terlizzi a carbon-neutral and energy-positive city.

Among the key speakers is Luca Di Narzo, CEO and Co-founder of HexErgy, who will present the potential of digital platforms to support the creation and management of local energy communities.

Participants will also hear from several project partner representatives, including:

  • Mr. Adolfo Fabrizio Colagiovanni from the Municipality of Mirabello Sannitico, who will present the cross-border energy community model developed during the LEC project.
  • Mr. Miloš Ivanišević from the Old Royal Capital Cetinje (Montenegro), who will discuss further applications of cross-border models.
  • Mrs. Angela Parisi from the Municipality of Terlizzi, who will share the municipality’s direct experience with the initiative.

In addition to case studies, the seminar will provide a comprehensive overview of the LEC project’s achievements and the ongoing activities of the LEC+ project. Mr. Roberto D’Amico will present examples of energy communities established through public-private partnerships, emphasizing their role in promoting energy efficiency.

The event will also cover:

  • Italian national incentives and funding opportunities,
  • The role of professional associations and Energy Service Companies (ESCOs),
  • And much more, presented by Mr. Renato Colonna.

Furthermore, Mr. Antonio Iannetta and Mr. Amos Giardino will highlight the importance of cooperative organizations as tools to foster local energy communities on a national scale.

Mr. Endi Biba, representing Milieukontakt Albania, will present best practices in energy transition and the development of local energy communities.

The seminar will conclude with an interactive session showcasing concrete examples of potential local energy communities, involving local operators from the floriculture district of Terlizzi.
