ADRICOM Project continues in Andrijevica with Workshop on Smart Water Management
Overview

The ADRICOM project marked another key milestone today in Andrijevica with the workshop titled “Smart Management of Water Resources in Conditions of Climate Change.” Held on 6 June 2025, the event focused on the role of hydropower as a sustainable energy source, while actively involving the local community in the discussion.

The workshop is an occasion to all project partners to strengthen cross-border cooperation, particularly by implementing a joint action plan aligned with the EU Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy.

The Covenant of Mayors (CoM), launched in 2008, brings together thousands of local governments committed to improving climate and energy policies. It represents the largest European movement of its kind, dedicated to building a more sustainable future at the local level.

ADRICOM is contributing to this effort by promoting collaborative governance across borders. The project aims to increase the institutional and strategic capacities of municipalities along the Southern Adriatic through the exchange of good practices, supporting less experienced cities in developing sustainable governance aligned with the commitments of the Covenant of Mayors.

Launched in February 2024 and set to conclude in July 2025, the ADRICOM project is led by the Municipality of San Michele Salentino (Italy), with partners including the Municipality of Castel San Vincenzo (Italy), the Municipality of Roskovec (Albania), and the Municipality of Andrijevica (Montenegro).

The overall goal of the initiative is to foster cooperation, help cities that have not yet joined the CoM to understand and adopt its principles, and to upgrade the skills of local administrations on climate and energy governance.

The Andrijevica workshop is a concrete step toward empowering communities and municipalities to address the urgent challenges of climate change with smart, sustainable, and cooperative solutions.
