According to the Programme Visual Identity Manual, the online visual identity intended for the Interreg IPA CBC Italy-Albania-Montenegro website aims at suggesting the cooperation between different countries, conceived as a whole, albeit each one preserving its own identity.

The Giulio Ribezzo’s artwork titled ”Sutura”

The cornerstone of the online identity is the representation of such countries through painting. The Giulio Ribezzo’s artwork titled ”Sutura”, in Eng. “Suture”, constitutes the synthesis of such idea that, through the artist’s expressive technique, identifies the Programme area by threads of wool and bamboo canes. The artist used pigments and materic elements (soils, bamboo, wool, glue etc.) on canvas, in order to shed light on the invisible networks flowing through the countries.

Sutura - Backstage photo

The Managing Authority of the Interreg IPA CBC Italia-Albania-Montenegro believes this artwork well illustrates the Programme vocation, since its main purpose is to highlight the relationships and the cooperation between the involved countries. Linking the two edges of the Adriatic sea, through the threads of knowledge and traditions, enables the approach of physically distant cultures, like suturing an open wound .

artwork professional photo shooting

A progressive discovery of the Sutura artwork has been integrated into the website experience. While browsing the website, the user can see small portions of the work including meaningful details. A professional photo shooting of such elements has been carried on with a few research paths in mind, whose outcome consists in several sets of close-up images of the artwork. Those pictures are provided online by the page headers of the main sections of the Programme website and the projects website. The pictures provided by the main sections of the website depict natural landscapes of each country.

The framing and tilt angle of such views sets the observer of the artwork at points of view suggesting a sight from a country to another one

The framing and tilt angle of such views sets the observer of the artwork at points of view suggesting a sight from a country to another one. Conversely, each project website provides a zenithal vision of the artwork, capturing elements by colour and materials according to the priority axis the project belongs to. The above mentioned use of pictures throughout the online experience of the website provides a consistent visual identity, which progressively leads the observer to create a mental map of the region, through the discovery of the artwork.
