Durres Port moves towards smarter, faster, and safer Operations with Connectivity Project
Overview

Have you ever wondered how a busy port keeps everything running smoothly, from cargo arriving on ships to trucks picking it up on land?

Durres Port is stepping into the future with the Connectivity Project, co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg IPA South Adriatic Program.

The goal is simple: make port operations smarter, faster, and fully digital.

At the heart of the project is a new Terminal Operating System (TOS) for the General Cargo Terminal. This system will allow port staff to plan, monitor, and control operations in real time. From handling special cargo and dangerous goods to tracking warehouse inventories and equipment use, the TOS will make every movement more visible, safer, and more efficient.

But digital transformation doesn’t stop there.

The Port Community System (PCS)—the hub where port information is shared will get a major upgrade. A new Truck Management Module will streamline how trucks enter, leave, and move cargo through the port, coordinating seamlessly with the container terminal. And with an Integrated Billing Module, invoicing, tariff management, and payments will all happen electronically, fully synced with the Port Authority’s financial systems.

All this means better coordination, fewer delays, and more transparency. Thanks to the Business Intelligence platform, operational and financial data will guide smarter decision-making and improve performance across the port.

With the Connectivity Project, Durres Port is not just modernizing its systems: it’s building a digital backbone that will strengthen the entire maritime and logistics sector, making it ready for the challenges of tomorrow.
