The Union of Municipalities of Grecìa Salentina (UCGS), as part of the European project GREEN – GRowing participative models for EnErgy commuNities, funded by the Interreg IPA South Adriatic Programme, is promoting a free training course open to citizens, businesses, public administrations, and third sector organizations. The course is designed to equip participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical tools to support the creation and management of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs).
The training course will focus on several key areas. It will introduce the legal, technical, and financial frameworks that underpin RECs, present various management models and legal structures, and provide practical case studies and tools for implementation at the local level. Participants will be encouraged to engage actively and contribute to the development of real solutions for their communities.
The course will take place from May 26 to 30, 2025, for a total of 30 hours. The training venue will be communicated directly to registered participants. The program includes expert-led lectures, thematic workshops, practical hands-on sessions, and a site visit to a pilot renewable energy plant.
Course content will cover the current status of the GREEN project, relevant regulations and incentive systems in Puglia and across the South Adriatic area, EU legislation on energy efficiency, and digital platforms that enable virtual energy sharing. Participants will also explore successful case studies and learn from ongoing experiences in the field.
This opportunity is open to a wide audience, including employees of local public administrations, citizens interested in the energy transition, local businesses and cooperatives, as well as NGOs and associations operating in the energy or sustainability sectors.
Participation is entirely free, but registration is required via the online form available at https://forms.gle/x8YFsfXjYHJ314tU6.
The deadline for registration is May 24, 2025, at 1:00 PM. A total of 19 seats are available: 7 for participants from Puglia, 4 from Molise, 4 from Montenegro, and 4 from Albania. In case of high demand, selection will be based on the date of registration submission.

The GREEN project is a cross-border initiative that seeks to develop participatory models for the establishment of Energy Communities across Southern Italy, Montenegro, and Albania. By encouraging collaboration and shared planning, the project aims to help communities address the pressing challenges of energy efficiency, energy poverty, and environmental sustainability. Through targeted training activities, GREEN also promotes social inclusion and supports the transition to a low-carbon economy by empowering local communities to produce, share, and manage renewable energy.
