Interreg SUrF promotes in Campobasso best practices on urban food policies
Overview

The Municipality of Campobasso (Italy) will host the seminar "Needs assessment and solution toward the local strategy " as part of SUrF project, on 02nd April 2025 in the Social Incubator “A. Di Lallo”.

The project brings together municipalities and a research centre from Italy, Albania, and Montenegro to provide a comprehensive overview of legislation and good practices related to the implementation of food policies.

During the seminar, experts in organic farming, food researchers and consultants will present case studies on the possibility of adopting a food plan to help improve decision-making processes.

The session will focus on the promotion of sustainable and participatory urban food policies, including the drafting of a wide-area food plan that includes the use of local raw materials, km0 products and the involvement of the local producer chain.

One of the main objectives of the workshop is to involve local production chains in the drafting of a vast area food plan starting from good practices and case studies.

The seminar will open with welcome greetings from the city administration, which will provide information on the city's ongoing efforts to implement food policy instruments.

Attendees will also hear from project partners representatives such as Mr. Paolo Greco, Mayor of the Municipality of Caprarica di Lecce, Mr. Aleksander Shkreli, Assistant project manager, Municipality of Ulcinj/Ulqin, Montenegro, Mrs. Fiona Konomi, representative of Municipality of Tirana and Mrs Nicoletta Radatta, external expert of Municipality of Campobasso.

Among the speakers will be Mr. Davide Marino, who will show the Molise Food Plan, Mrs. Alessandra Orsini and Mr. Vincenzo Rusciano, researchers from the University of Teramo, Mr. Andrea Albino, from the Italian Association of Organic Agriculture “AIAB Molise”, Mr Antonio Scioli, from “Le Terre del Sacramento” beekeeping, Mrs. Manuela Virtuoso with the foreground of local food, Mr. Giovanni Colella, representative of CIA Molise, Mrs Maria Teresa Imparato, school director of Institute for Food, Beverage and Hospitality Services, Mr. Umberto Di Lallo, school director of Institute for agriculture and rural development, Mr. Piero Castrataro and Mr. Marcello Cervone to illustrate the good practice of school canteens in the province of Isernia, Molise, and Mrs. Cinzia De Letis, representative of Oltre Bio. it

The workshop will conclude with an interactive session in which stakeholders can express their opinions and suggestions useful for the drafting of the vast area food plan.
