On October 4, 2024, the Municipality of Roskovec hosted in Albania the workshop on “Innovative methods to contrast the climate change impacts in the agriculture sector,” as part of the SuS_AGRI project.
The event was officially and proudly opened by Mayor, Majlinda Bufi, and brought together project partners and various stakeholders, including public institutions, experts, policymakers, and research institutes from the South Adriatic area, united to address the pressing issue of climate change in agriculture.
After welcoming remarks from key representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and regional organizations, throughout the day, participants engaged in multiple sessions focused on the challenges posed by climate change to agriculture and explored innovative practices for climate change mitigation.
During the first two sessions, experts shared valuable insights on sustainable agricultural practices, the role of renewable energy, and joint efforts to safeguard agricultural heritage, aiming to enhance the knowledge of producers in the region on how to mitigate the effects of global warming.
Instead, in the third session, attendees participated in a collaborative group exercise to identify specific actions for climate change mitigation. At the end of this session, the workshop concluded with a productive discussion, paving the way for future exchanges and initiatives aimed at integrating efforts into long-term climate resilience strategies.
The active participation from agricultural experts throughout all sessions was crucial, also in presenting and analyzing the main climate risks affecting Roskovec, supported by findings from recent scientific studies. Experts’ contributions provided a comprehensive overview, clear results, and well-defined objectives to be achieved by the SuS_AGRI partners through joint efforts. This collaborative approach reinforces the importance of working together to address the impacts of climate change on agriculture and ensure long-term resilience in the sector.
