Public institution of Culture, City Theatre Budva from Montenegro is proud to announce the first Cross border TOURNEE Festival – Festival of Theatre and Opera from 22nd to 25th September 2019 in Budva, Montenegro. City Theatre Budva is project partner together with Municipality of Budva, Municipalities of Fier and Tirana from Albania, and Municipality of Barletta from Italy on project ‘’Theatres for tOURism developmeNt in EuropE – TOURNEE’’, implemented within Interreg IPA CBC Italy-Albania-Montenegro Programme.
TOURNEE project is developing an innovative, strategic model for promotion of Theatre’s role as main drivers for cultural, touristic and – subsequently - economic growth in the cross-border region. Considering the intense growth of cultural tourism in the latest few years globally, TOURNEE intends to create a new cultural product, the itinerant theatrical Festival, resulting from the collaboration among professionals and institutions in the cross border area (through co creation laboratory), which could be an innovative and creative asset increasing tourist flows in the CBC area: Puglia, Albania and Montenegro in the medium-long period.
TOURNEE Festival in Budva will be opened with the first opera production on Stage between the Churches in Old town at 20:00, presenting ‘’The Servant Mistress’’ by Giovanni Paisiello, directed by Vladan Đurković, co-produced by City of Budva Theater, Municipalities of Tirana and Fier, and managed by the Operosa Foundation from Podgorica. ‘’The Servant Mistress’’ Opera will be performed by soprano Petra Radulovic, baritone Bozidar Boskilov, actor Silvano Italiano. Signed by Vladan Djurkovic, set and lights Magdalena Vlajic, costume by Lina Lekovic, and orchestra composed by artists from Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Albania led by the young Albanian conductor Valmir Xoxa.
We are happy to announce that Opera co-production, after premiere in Budva, continues the tour through Albania on Festivals in Fier and Tirana on September 25th -26th, 2019 and in December, in Italy in Barletta.
Second night of the TOURNEE Festival in Budva will present “Johan Padan and the Discovery of the Americas’’ a production of the Municipality of Tirana, Albania. On the text of the Nobel Prize, Dario Fo, the story of Johan Padan, projected against his will from Bergamo in the Indies, on a Columbo ship. By dint of making people laugh, he manages to overthrow the world. He guides the cannibals to appropriate the horse and gunpowder. Thus, they will be able to "discover" America on their own, in the face of the conquistadores. Directed by Milton Kutali.
Third night of the TOURNEE Festival in Budva will present ‘’Farce of the Crown’’, produced by the Municipality of Fier, Albania. A theatre performance directed by Ledian Gjeci, Kudret Alikaj, based on the drama of Arben Iliazi, actors: Erion Hinaj, Dajana Nenaj, Xhuliano Brisku. Scenography and costume by Gazment Kokolari. Direction Artistic Director Milton Kutali. Production Director Ledian Gjeci.
The final night of the TOURNEE Festival will present two plays: ‘’The island’’, staged by the Company "Il Carro dei Comici" and produced by the Municipality of Barletta, Italy. Directed by Francesco Tammacco and based on the drama of Armin Greder, cartoonist, graphic designer, illustrator and writer born in Switzerland, but living in Australia, tells about the difficulties to be strangers. Actors : Claudia Gadaleta, Rosa Tarantino, Federico Ancona, Marco Sallustio, Carlo Salvemini, Gabriella Caputi, original music by Pantaleo Annese, Scenography and costume by Michele Napolitano. Second play, ‘’Orestea.Dystopian’’ performance by Boris Kadin and Lenz Fondazione from Parma, Italy, produced by the City Theatre of Budva.
Entries for all nights of the TOURNEE Festival are FREE OF CHARGE, as played within the TOURNEE project co-funded by the European union.
