Our emotions are triggered by many factors, like music, one of the few universal aspects of human culture. EArPieCe project investigated the emotional response of a target of listeners, heterogeneous but homologous in all 4 territories of the programme area, when listening to pieces of popular music chosen by the partners (specifically, musical marches). The target users were men and women who were involved in work or study in the music field, and mainly played an instrument or compose music.

To perform the test, the Brainwear® EMOTIV-X headset was used to collect EEG data, which has 14 electrodes placed scattered across the skull. Thanks to the integrated software, it was possible to analyse the emotional response to the piece of musical marches, according to 6 metrics: Engagement, Excitement, Stress, Relaxation, Interest and Focus.

Project partners have elaborated these metrics and developed the dashboard: earpiece.dhitech.it. It contains analysis results that can be accessed through different navigable diagrams and overview infographics.
