Smart Land 2.0 kick-off meeting launches a new era for sustainable rural mobility
Overview

The SMART LAND 2.0 project officially begin with its Kick-Off Meeting hosted at the Agency for Development and Business Support in the Old Royal Capital Cetinje. Co-funded by the Interreg IPA South Adriatic Programme, the project brings together municipalities from Montenegro, Italy and Albania to rethink mobility in rural areas, where limited transport options often isolate communities and increase daily costs.

SMART LAND 2.0 aims to combine public transport with shared, on-demand and volunteer-based services, supported by digital tools and data analysis. Pilot actions will be tested in four rural territories to offer smarter and more affordable transport solutions, lower emissions and greater accessibility.

By developing a shared methodology and replicable models, the partnership sets the basis for future Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) solutions in the South Adriatic—placing rural territories at the centre of innovation rather than at the periphery.

The project is led by Old Royal Capital Cetinje (ME) in cooperation with Union of Municipalities of Grecia Salentina (IT), Municipality of Agnone (IT) and Municipality of Lezha (AL).
