The FOOD4HEALTH Community Lab in Tricase opens the door to partners and stakeholders
Overview

In the framework of the FOOD4HEALTH project, the Italian partner CIHEAM Bari opens its F4H Community Lab doors to the partnership and to the local stakeholders in Tricase (Province of Lecce), target area of the project for the Apulia Region (Italy). 

The presentation of the Lab was made on 28 July 2021 at 19.00 at the presence of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Albania, Mrs. Milva Ekonomi, of the FOOD4HEALTH project officer, Mr. Antonio Agrosì and of the Mayor of the Municipality of Tricase, Mr. Antonio De Donno. After the istitutional greetings, Mr. Biagio Diterlizi, Deputy Director of CIHEAM Bari presented the Lab, which will be fully operational from Autumn 2021. The Lab will allow local stakeholders to use its spaces for the agri-food processing of their products. Three sectors have been equipped with suitable spaces in line with all the health and food safety provisions of the European Union: a Honey Lab, an Agri Lab for processing fruit and vegetables, a Fish Lab. In addition, the structure equipped a Cook Lab where also a show cooking space will be available. To complete the structure, a market area is at disposal of the stakeholders to present and promote their elaborated products.  

The primary aim of the project is to enhance the competitiveness of MSMEs and favour the access to the market in the cross-border area through the improvement of production techniques, the transfer, sharing and adoption of European quality standards and the enhancement of typical and traditional products of the agri-food sector and fisheries. The project has been financed under the Call For Thematic Projects IPA CBC Italy-Albania-Montenegro 2014–2020.

During the event, attended by all the project partners, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Albania), Agricultural Technology Transfer Center of Korca (ATTC – Albania), Agricultural Technology Transfer Centre of Vlora (Albania), CIHEAM Bari (Italy), Puglia Region, Presidency-Health Marketplace (Italy), Molise Region (Italy), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Montenegro), University of Montenegro, Institute of marine biology (Montenegro), all the participants had the chance to visit the prepared spaces and to taste some of the typical local agro-food cooked with the equipment purchased in the framework of the FOOD4HEALTH project. The works were closed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Albania, Mrs. Milva Ekonomi.
