
The Municipality of Ugento, lead partner of the BLUEFLAG project – “Enhance cooperation between private and public institutions for an efficient management to raise criteria standards for Blue Flag award in the region”, is organizing an international workshop titled “Harmonizing Best Practices in Monitoring and Management for Blue Flag Certification”, to be held on June 20, 2025.
This workshop will represent a significant opportunity for dialogue among the Adriatic territories involved in the project. The aim of the initiative is to encourage the exchange of effective approaches and shared strategies for improving environmental monitoring and management systems, with a particular focus on the criteria required to obtain the prestigious Blue Flag certification.
Throughout this event, locals and international professionals and operators of the sector will explore key topics such as bathing water quality, coastal safety, environmental education for tourists, and public-private cooperation for more effective and integrated territorial governance.
This initiative reaffirms the role of the BLUEFLAG project as a catalyst for strengthening administrative capacity and sharing innovative solutions aimed at building more sustainable and informed coastal governance models.

BLUEFLAG project - BLUEFLAG seeks to improve cooperation, institutional capacity, and governance skills in the participating territories, in order to support the effective application of the Blue Flag certification criteria across Italy, Albania, and Montenegro. The project partnership includes the Fondazione Turismo e Cultura Molise (Italy), the Municipality of Ugento (Italy), the Municipality of Lezha (Albania), the Albanian Coast for Lifeguards and Water Rescue Federation (Albania), and the Tourism Organization of Ulcinj (Montenegro).
