ECSYT, incoming event to promote sustainable cooperation in the Southern Adriatic Ports
Overview

In the frame of the project ECSYT – Enhancing Cooperation and Synergies of Transport in the Southern Adriatic Ports, an incoming event took place in Albania, divided in two days:

“Study Visit” on 23 November 2021 and a “Workshop” on 24 November 2021. 

The objective of the project is to create a more efficient management of transport connections in order to optimize actions of economic transport operators in the southern Adriatic ports, from a logistical, operational, administrative point of view. 

The project aims to ensure greater sustainability in the connections between South Adriatic ports and to create a network for the exhange of experiences between the  stakeholders in the logistics and transport sector. Leader Partner of the ECSYT Project is CNA, an italian association that represents and protects the fundamental part of the local economy, which includes craft micro-enterprises & small and medium-sized enterprises. Also, CEDIR, non-profit organization is the Albanian Partner of the project which organized the two days incoming event in Albania. 

On 23 November, CEDIR organized an incoming event, “Study Visit” held in the ports of Orikum, Vlora and Durrës. During the Study Visit, experts from Italy had the opportunity to visit important areas related to the transport sector within the frame of the project. During these visits they met representatives of respective ports which explained the capacities and details of the actual ports and the future plans for the development and modernization of these ports. During the visits, they met various private actors in the transport sector and had B2B meetings which aimed at providing the participats with an understanding of the transport sector in Albania and their day-to-day challenges. 

Durres Port Authority is a multipurpose port accounting for 90% of Albania’s maritime trade. The port of Durres is the door to pan-european  corridor VIII connecting the Adriatic Sea with the Black Sea.

Regarding Vlora Port, except to the current functions that the port covers today for logistics, passengers, passengers, goods, it will be expanded to Triport where it will be supplemented with other functions as well. 

In short, the incoming day engaged more than 10 persons from the public and private sector, representatives from port of Oricum, port of Vlora and port of Durres, business representatives and representatives from CEDIR.
