On 6 May 2025, the Municipality of Tirana will host a key cross-border workshop titled “Energy Communities: Practical Guidelines for Establishing LEC+” at the Tirana International Hotel. This event is an important milestone of the Local Energetic Community 2 (LEC+) initiative, part of the Interreg IPA South Adriatic Programme.
The workshop will bring together stakeholders from Albania, Italy, and Montenegro—including representatives from local governments, civil society, academia, and the private sector. Its goal is to highlight the vital role of Local Energy Communities (LEC) in supporting the green transition across the Western Balkans.
Participants will explore Tirana’s approach to energy community development, share cross-border experiences and best practices, and receive practical tools for establishing and managing LEC and LEC+ models. The event will also promote inclusive governance, regional collaboration, and active stakeholder engagement.
The agenda includes interactive working group sessions focused on:
-
Establishing LEC+ communities and supporting local governments in the process
-
Sharing replicable business models and strategies from the energy community sector
-
Developing inclusive governance frameworks for sustainable community energy systems
