Regione Puglia launches #DueMariTour to promote DUE MARI project results
Overview

On Friday 12 May 2023 at 3pm, the #DueMariTour will kick off at the National Archaeological Museum of Egnazia in Fasano. This cycle of territorial meetings has been organized by the Department of Tourism, Culture and Valorization of Territory of Puglia Region to share the results of the DUE MARI Project. The project is co-funded by the Interreg IPA CBC Italy-Albania-Montenegro programme, of which the Department is the promoter, along with InnovaPuglia and other partners from Molise, Albania and Montenegro.

The aim of the project is to promote cooperation between the areas of the lower Adriatic and to foster sustainable and seasonal adjusted tourism development through innovative digital tools. This has been made possible thanks to the strong synergy between the Department and InnovaPuglia, the in-house ICT development company of Puglia Region. InnovaPuglia has developed an innovative digital platform that allows users to explorate over 600 cultural and natural assets of the three countries involved in the project through virtual tours.

Puglia Region has identified a list of 150 pilot sites that represent the region according to a precise methodology and extensive territorial mapping. This list will continue to grow and include architectural, cultural and natural assets that range from Gargano to Salento, both along the coasts and in the inland areas. These sites not only include well-known destinations and UNESCO sites but also lesser-known small villages and areas.

During the #DueMariTour stops, project technicians and representatives of regional and local institutions will present the activities that led to the creation of the virtual tours. They will highlight the potential and future prospects of their implementation within the integrated digital ecosystem of tourism and culture of  Puglia Region. Moreover, they will offer a preview of the project's portal that will be presented at the final event to be held in Bari in June.

The next tour stops will take place on 18 May in Andria at the Diocesan Museum, on 25 May in Taranto at the Aragonese Castle, on 31 May in Lecce at the auditorium of the Castromediano Museum, and on 8 June in Foggia at the Magna Capitana Library.

The events are open to tourist and cultural operators, as well as to citizens.
